Domino and IMAP: Next steps

After a short break we will continue to debug the broken IMAP task of Lotus Domino. The latest hotfix improved the situation but there is still a bug in the RFC822.SIZE. Domino does not provide the correct size in some cases.

We will provide a python script which demonstrated the wrong implementation. I hope that IBM will be able to fix this finaly.

So let's fight for the correct implementation of open standards!

UPDATE: Thanks to Michael Kukat. He provides a small expect script which documents the bug.

UPDATE: IBM accepted our bug report and Ed Brill promised to help us to get that issue fixed final.

Back from ISC2011

This week I went to ISC2011 at Hamburg together with the CEOs of RisingTide Systems and GrauData. The conference was very technical and I got a very good impression of the current market situation in HPC and storage. We met the people from SGI, Xyratex, FusionIO, LSI and SpectraLogic.

This week RisingTide Systems joined the Open Virtualization Alliance. Read the official announcement here.

Today I tested the latest IMAP hotfix again. I tried to run the dovecot IMAPtest. The result was a crashing IMAP Domino process. I see a lot of work to get all this stuff fixed.

News about the Domino IMAP multisession bug

Here some bad news for all Linux based Domino 8 customers. The multisession IMAP task bug is a Linux only problem, as we found out yesterday. Our test script works well when we connect to a Windows based Domino 8 server.

Lession learned: Domino is still a "runs best with Windows solution".

First results of IBM support requests

We are still tracing some further annoying bugs in Domino 8. IMAP support is really broken. But there is some hope:

Hopefully we get access to some hotfixes soon.
