One of my colleagues came up with a very usfull testing tool for IMAP servers based on the dovecot IMAP libraries: IMAP Server Tester. I think we will track down all the remain bugs :-)
We have the same problems with Domino as an IMAP server using various IMAP Clients. I have done some experimenting and am now happy with my Thunderbird and the following configuration.
Edit - Account Settings - Server Settings - Advanced... - Maximum number of server connections to cache "2"
If you set this to "1" you will experience a massive performance downfall (especially for opening folders with many eMails) and with "3" some things (like the download to work offline) just won't work.
